Privacy & cookie policy
A short policy for a simple site. No tracking cookies, no advertising, no profiling, and no personal data sold to anyone.
Last updated: January 2026
The short version
Newhampshire.in is a static travel guide. It has no user accounts, no comment system, no newsletter signup and no server-side database of visitor records. Nothing you do here is profiled, and nothing is sold.
The only thing stored in your browser is a single preference that remembers you dismissed the cookie notice. That is described in full below.
Cookies
This site does not set tracking cookies. No advertising cookies, no third-party analytics cookies, and no cross-site identifiers are created by this website.
There is no analytics platform embedded in these pages. Page-view counts, if they exist at all, are produced by the hosting provider's own aggregate request logging, which records no cookie on your device and is not used to build a profile.
Where a page links to an external service — a ticketing site, a mountain railway, a hotel — that service sets its own cookies once you follow the link. Those are governed by that site's policy, not this one.
Local storage
Instead of cookies, this site uses the browser's localStorage facility. It stores one key:
| Key | Purpose | Contents | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
nh-travel-cookie-ack-v1 |
Remembers that you dismissed the cookie notice, so it does not reappear on every page. | A short text marker. No identifier, no timestamp of who you are, no personal data. | Until you clear your browser storage. |
This key is written only after you press Got it on the notice. If you never press it, nothing is written. It contains no identifier that could be linked back to you.
Trip-planner selections on the homepage are generated in your browser as you choose options; they are not transmitted anywhere and are not stored beyond the current page view.
How to remove what is stored
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies → See all site data and permissions, then find this site and delete.
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data, then search for this site and remove.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data.
- Any browser: opening this site in a private or incognito window stores nothing once the window closes.
Removing the key has one effect: the cookie notice appears again on your next visit. Nothing else changes.
Personal data we do not collect
To be explicit, this site does not collect or process: names, e-mail addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers, payment details, location data, device fingerprints, IP-based profiles, or behavioural histories. There is no form on this site that submits data anywhere.
Contacting us
The site's administrative contact address is not published in the page source. It is encoded in the site's JavaScript as a sequence of character codes and is only assembled into a readable address in your browser when you deliberately press the Show contact e-mail button in the footer. This is done to keep the address out of reach of automated address harvesters; the decoding happens entirely on your device and nothing is sent to a server when you click it.
If you would like your data — which, as described above, amounts to a single browser preference — explained or removed, use that contact route.
Children
This is a general-audience travel guide. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, because it does not collect personal information at all.
External links
Pages here link to third-party sites for tickets, trails, lodging and official information. Once you leave this site, the destination's own privacy policy applies. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their practices.
Your rights
Because no personal data is collected, there is nothing to export, correct or erase. If you are in a jurisdiction with statutory data rights — the GDPR, the UK GDPR, CCPA or similar — the position is that this site acts as a publisher of static content and processes no personal data on its own behalf beyond aggregate, cookie-free request logs held by its hosting provider.
Changes to this policy
If the site ever adds a feature that changes any of the above — a newsletter, embedded analytics, advertising — this page will be updated first and the "last updated" date changed. The current position is the one described here: no cookies for tracking, one local preference, no profiling.
A plain-language summary
We store one small preference so a banner stays closed. We do not track you, profile you, advertise to you or sell anything about you. That is the whole policy.
You do not have to take our word for it
Everything in this policy can be checked in a minute, without trusting the page you are reading. Open your browser's developer tools, go to the Application or Storage tab, and look under Local Storage for this domain. You will find one key or none at all — there is nothing else to find.
Switch to the Network tab and reload the page. Every request should resolve to this domain. If you ever see a request going out to an advertising network, an analytics provider or a font service, this policy would be wrong — and that is precisely why the site is built without them.
Cookies can be confirmed the same way. The cookie list for this site should be empty regardless of how many pages you visit.
What happens when you leave
This guide sends you out to a lot of other places: a railway that sells summit tickets, a state park that takes camping reservations, an inn that wants a deposit. Each of those sites is a separate business with its own privacy policy, its own cookies and its own obligations.
We choose outbound links for usefulness, not for commission. There are no affiliate parameters appended to them, so following a link from here does not tell the destination who referred you or earn this site anything.
If a third-party site asks for more than you expected — an account, a phone number, marketing consent — that is their policy, not ours, and it is reasonable to close the tab and book by phone instead.
No advertising, no affiliate tracking
This guide is not funded by advertising networks and does not use affiliate links that set tracking cookies. There are no sponsored placements, no retargeting pixels and no embedded social widgets that phone home as the page loads.
Every image on the site is served from this domain. There are no external font services, no third-party JavaScript bundles and no content delivery networks — which means the set of parties who can observe your visit is as small as it can practically be.
